‘Friendly’ Competition Precedes the ‘Big Game’

November 1,  2013 - Omen for the Big Game tomorrow?

Army won every match in a team judo competition against the Air Force Academy today in Colorado Springs at the U.S. Olympic Training Center dojo.

The “Big Game,” of course, is the football faceoff tomorrow between eternal rivals from the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs and the visiting United State Military Academy from Westpoint. Just to get things warmed up, a number of competitive sports vied for mostly bragging rights today with teams from several sports including judo.

Army LTC Hector Morales was quick to point out (more than once) that Army won all 11 matches in the team judo competition. Other sports were water polo, lacrosse, basketball and ultimate Frisbee.

“Just a lot of friendly competition,” Morales said.

Yeah, right.
