Only the very best judoka in the world can fight in USA Judo’s Grand Prix Miami, June 15-16, but there is an education program and judo camp just for kids on either side of the super elite competition that will be led by some of the best judo fighters on the planet.
The really cool thing for those attending those special events is that both will be led by U.S. Olympians and Cuban World Champions, an incredible opportunity for young people.
U.S. Olympians to Head Classes For Local Kids Next Week
USA Judo and the International Judo Federation, which sanctions all Grand Prix tournaments, will offer educational and motivational classes for South Florida kids led by the best of the best in the U.S. – Olympic Gold Medalist Kayla Harrison, Olympic Bronze Medalist Marti Malloy, Olympians Travis Stevens and Nick Delpopolo, and veteran international competitor from Miami, Angelica Delgado.
One of the events is slated for Hialeah, Florida with Mayor Carlos Hernandez and the City Council invited for “Olympic Takedowns: Demos and Lessons by USA Judo Olympians,” on Thursday, June 13th, 2013, at Bucky Dent Gym.
Olympians, along with members of the U.S. National Team, will visit with local children and share their personal experience as Judo competitors. They will provide a demonstration showcasing their skills. Immediately following the demonstration, the athletes will be signing autographs for the children.
Date & Time: Thursday, June 13th, 3:00pm
Location: Bucky Dent Gym,
2250 W 60 Street, Hialeah
