US Junior Team Takes Silver And Bronze At Junior Pan American Championships in Buenos Aires

July 12, 2013 – Team USA’s Summer Truong, 17, took a silver medal today after battling her way through brackets of the toughest young fighters in the hemisphere at the Junior Pan American Championships in Argentina.

Adding to the U.S. collection was Mackenzie Williams, 16, who took a bronze medal, clawing back through repechage after an early loss. She threw her opponent from Argentina in the final match with a nice switch to take the medal.

Truong, 48 kg., trains at USA Judo Training Site, Olympic Training Center, Colorado Springs, CO). Williams competes at 78+ kg. and hails from Becerra Judo and Jujitsu of Garland, TX.

USA Judo sent a team of 18 to the competition. Among those competing tomorrow is Annie Truong’s brother, 18-year-old George Truong, 60 kg., of USA Judo Training Site, Olympic Training Center, Colorado Springs, CO.
