USA Judo Approves First Draft of Strategic Plan

March 28, 2012, 12:33 p.m. (ET)
After nearly two years of work, USA Judo’s Board of Directors this weekend approved the first draft of the organization’s Strategic Plan.

A sub-committee of the Board of Directors, made up of President Lance Nading, Gail Stolzenberg, Noboru Saito, Jim Webb and Jason Rivera with the guidance of Rachel Isaacs of the USOC, and Neil Simon (USJF President) as a paid consultant, put the finishing touches on this organic and living document that will serve as the vision for USA Judo for decades to come.

The document outlines several key guiding principles for the organization and spells out clearly the Vision, Mission and Goals of USA Judo as we move into 2012 and beyond. It also defines the objectives that the organization must achieve in order to meet its vision of the future and successfully attain its goals.

This document will now be circulated among the Committee Chairs, as well as club coaches and referees. The plan calls for a full presentation to all the members during the upcoming Senior National Championships in Irving, TX, where we hope to get feedback and "buy-in" from everyone.

As customary and because of the support that we receive from them, this plan will also be presented to the United States Olympic Committee for their input and "buy-in" as well.

"USA Judo will soon be able to check off the "to-do" list one of the best-practice items that we as a dynamic and growing organization need to have on record. You will soon hear from our President about steps that will be taken to get your input and support of this very important document."

Thank you to the members of this committee and Mr. Neil Simon for all of their hard work and a job well done!
