U.S. Judo team at training

Dec. 15, 2012 - U.S. juniors picked up more medals in France today including a gold, a silver and two bronze.

Kyle Wright won all four of his matches by Ippon to take the top spot on the podium in the 73 kg division in the cadet age group at this international tournament in Lanester, France. He also took a Best Technique Award for the day.

Taking silver was Caleb Andreu, (Bushido Judo School, N.C.) who went 4-1. Leon Simakhov, 34 kg (Georgian Wrestling School, Brooklyn, NY) and Madison Montgomery, 57 kg (Ruben Martin Judo Training Center, Burleson, TX) each went 3-1 to take bronze medals.

Cadet Rachael Butler, 63 kg (Tri-Valley Judo, Pleasanton, CA) placed fifth in her division with a 3-2 record for the day.

Nina Cutro-Kelly and Chantal Wright will fight tomorrow, Sunday, in Lanester.
