Dr. Ron Tripp Named USA Judo General Secretary

Nov. 19, 2008, 7:21 p.m. (ET)

Dear Members,

As you may know, at the first meeting of our newly elected Board of Directors, our immediate Past President Dr. Ron Tripp was elected by the Board to serve in the capacity of General Secretary.  As we move forward, this position will be the critical link between the international judo community and USA Judo.

Dr. Tripp is particularly well suited for the position due to the success he had during his eight-year tenure as USA Judo President in which he established meaningful relationships with key leaders in the judo community throughout the world. With the dramatic changes that international judo has had and will continue to undergo, it is critical we utilize Dr. Tripp's base of knowledge and experience as more potential changes affecting all of American judo come to fruition.

Please join me in supporting his efforts. Additionally, as 2008 comes to a close, I would like to thank Dr. Tripp for his dedication as President during these last eight years. In his role as President, he has brought professionalization to the organization that did not previously exist. We are now on the right track to continue to grow and develop our sport to reach its highest potential in the USA. His guidance and contributions to the organization will continue to live and thrive as we move into the next 50 years.

Personally, I would like to thank him for his guidance and unconditional support throughout the years. Thank you Dr. Tripp!
