Those who are eligible to vote are those athletes who meet the criteria as set forth in sections 11.1a and 12.2 of the USA Judo Bylaws (see below). This includes the specified events since 1999. Athletes must submit their election ballots to the USOC Audit & Compliance Department no later than Friday, December 12, 2008 by 2:00pm EST.

Section 11.1. Elite Athletes
For purposes of electing the Athlete Directors to the USA Judo Board of Directors and electing the USA Judo representative to the USOC Athletes' Advisory Council, the following individuals are defined as Elite Athletes:
Section 12.2. Qualifications
Those individuals who have represented the United States as athletes in the Olympic Games, the Pan American Games, World Championship[s or at an Operation Gold event (or the current USOC-equivalent designated for that year) in the sport of judo within the 10 year period prior to December 31 of the year in which the election is held shall be eligible to run for election to the USOC Athletes' Advisory Council. Additionally, in order to be eligible to run for election, an individual shall be a citizen of the United States and 18 years of age or older by December 31 of the year in which the election is held.
