BEIJING (AP) Azerbaijan's Elnur Mammadli lived up to his top ranking in the world by stunning South Korean world champion Wang Ki-chun to grab the men's 73-kilogram judo gold at the Beijing Games on Monday.
Mammadli, who ousted European champion Dirk van Tichelt in his opening match, needed only 23 seconds to send Wang to the mat.
Tajikistan's Rasul Boqiev threw van Tichelt for an ippon win and a bronze. Winning the second bronze was Brazil's Leandro Guilheiro, who also needed less than 30 seconds to end his medal match with an ippon throw. He defeated Iran's Ali Malomat.
