Dutch Masters Open 2014

May 17, 2014

Dear judo friends,

On behalf of the Dutch Judo Federation it is a great pleasure for me to welcome all participants, teammembers and judo guests from all over the world at the Dutch Masters Open 2014.

We are proud to announce that after three successful events organised by the Dutch Master pioneers HarryMartens and Hendrik Koppe, the fourth Dutch Masters Open will be organised under the full responsibility ofthe Dutch Judo Federation (JBN). It also means that the highest ranked Dutch participant will automatically be the Dutch national champion in his weight category.

The Dutch federation has an outstanding reputation, having successfully organised the European championships judo 2005 and the world championships judo 2009, both held in Rotterdam. More recently the Dutch federation successfully organised the judo tournament of the European Youth Olympic Festival(EYOF) 2013.

Our main goal is to promote judo for veterans within the Netherlands, but also on a global level. That’s also the reason why the Dutch federation has asked the International Judo Federation (IJF) to appoint the world championships masters 2015 to the Netherlands.

We hope to increase the number of competitors at the Dutch Masters Open in the coming years as well as improve the overall level of this event. We would like to encourage judo athletes to continue or to startcompeting as veterans. And of course we will do our best to make sure competitors will enjoy their stay inthe Netherlands.

We ask you kindly to inform and stimulate all of your judo friends to participate at our Dutch Masters Openon 17 May 2014. The tournament will take place in “Topsportcentrum Rotterdam” in the city of Rotterdam, which is known for staging many great sports events in recent history.

Our task is to create the best possibilities for all participants in order for them to achieve the best result possible. See you in Rotterdam!

On behalf of the organising committee, Willem Jan Stegeman

President Dutch Judo Federation
