During the event USA Judo announced its Adopt An Athlete program where it plans to partner with Maximized Living chiropractors in communities across the nation to match them with athletes they may support financially and through services. Through Adopt an Athlete, individuals may contribute financially and earmark funds for an individual athlete. Dr. Joe Arvay, the doctor that coordinates Maximized Living’s services to USA Judo, kicked off the program by adopting 90 kilogram player, Jacob Larsen. Dr Arvay presented Larsen with a check on stage during the convention to assist with his funding to Brazil. Dr. Joseph Singh also stepped forward to sponsor up and coming 55 kilogram player, Connor Murtha, for the upcoming Junior Olympics in Gwinnett, Georgia. Several other doctors have expressed an interest in adopting USA Judo athletes and this is being coordinated by USA Judo staff.

Athletes signed hundreds of autographs over a two day period as well as attended a reception with the doctors. Over the course of the weekend athletes also participated in several filmed interviews and photo sessions. Addressing the conference as the key note speaker on behalf of USA Judo was Eddie Liddie, Director of Athlete Performance and Olympic Bronze Medalist. Liddie emphasized that with assistance from organizations such as Maximized Living, USA Judo athletes have a much stronger potential to reach their goals.

On Thursday Wellness Advisory Council members were treated to a tour of the Olympic Training Center and lunch in the athlete dining hall with USA Judo staff members, Sherrie Wilson and Eddie Liddie. The doctors had the opportunity to visit the various training venues and meet athletes from weightlifting, wrestling and judo throughout the tour. “Maximized Living is a first class organization. The services they provide to our athletes and the support they have given to USA Judo is instrumental to our performance and success”, stated Sherrie Wilson, USA Judo Director of Marketing.

Maximized Living has partnered with several sports to create the Wellness Advisory Council. The Council serves USA Judo, USA Weightlifting, USA Wrestling and the Colorado Rapids professional soccer team. Approximately 100 select doctors serve on the Council that provides chiropractic care at national events, to international teams and to USA Judo’s nationally ranked athletes.
