A USA Field Hockey sanction is an official designation issued by USA Field Hockey which approves the holding of a field hockey tournament in the United States. The sanction is also a contract, which evidences the events commitment to provide a safe environment for all participants and spectators. Once the event has satisfied the sanction requirements, the event application for sanction is approved.

MORE INFO ON SANCTIONING
Once an event is approved, a sanctioning fee is required and must be received within seven business days of notification. Sanctioning fees are only refundable if the event is cancelled due to weather and written notification is received within 48 hours of cancellation. All athletes participating in a sanctioned event must hold a current USA Field Hockey membership or purchase a temporary membership through USA Field Hockey. All coaches participating must be current USA Field Hockey coach members with a current background check on field. The membership and background check must extend to the last day of the event. Post-event documents must be submitted to USA Field Hockey within 15 days of the event ending and include, tournament results and medical incident reports.
