USA Field Hockey Seeks Qualified Volunteers to Support International Event

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – March 22, 2017 – From August 4 -13, the Home of Hockey in the United States, Spooky Nook Sports in Lancaster, Pa., is hosting 16 international field hockey squads for the Pan American Cups (PAC)USA Field Hockey is seeking motivated and talented individuals who think quickly on their feet to help bring this premier event to life. Volunteering at a tournament of this caliber displays a strong sense of leadership and organization all while getting the chance to assist alongside world renown professional sport teams. Contributing to PAC through the array of volunteer opportunities below not only sharpens many desirable skills employers avidly search for, but also is a great way to give back to the local community of Lancaster.

Accreditation

Accreditation Center Volunteers  

  • Assist in the accreditation center with duties such as distributing badges, manage the production of new badges as well as assist with the webcam and photos for accredited individuals.  

Accreditation Checkpoint Volunteers 

  • These volunteers will be responsible for manning the various accreditation checkpoints throughout the venue to ensure only the correctly accredited individuals gain entry to their respective zones during the event. 

Competition Services

Seating Attendant/Usher  

  • Assist spectators and fans to their correct seating sections as well as manage spectators during and after the matches.  

Ball Patrol 

  • The Ball Chasers are the individuals that run the sidelines and end lines during the match. Eight ball chasers are needed for each match. They must arrive an hour before the match and report to the Ball Patrol Supervisor. Knowledge of field hockey rules is required. Recommended age requirement 15 or older.   

Locker Room Attendant 

  • The Locker Room Attendant will need to coordinate with Pitch Operations in regard to the locker room schedule. He or she will also need to create and oversee the cleaning schedule of the locker rooms. This person will be responsible for the ice distribution post-game along with draining the teams’ ice baths after they have finished. This person will be in charge of overseeing the teams' equipment storage areas and the equipment distribution and manage team questions while on the practice pitch.   

Media Assistant

  • Manage and assist with media relations questions and inquiries to help USA Field Hockey’s Communications and Marketing Team on site.  

Sports Entertainment

  • Announcing responsibilities, and halftime entertainment, which also could include entertaining spectators between matches. 

Team Services

  • This role would include team liaison responsibilities such as meeting teams at the airport, answering the teams’ questions during their stay in regards to the local area. Run errands as needed for the visiting teams. Ability to speak Spanish is helpful. 

Ticketing/Will Call

  • This role would include team liaison responsibilities such as meeting teams at the airport, answering the teams’ questions during their stay in regards to the local area. Run errands as needed for the visiting teams. Ability to speak Spanish is helpful. 

Transportation

  • Assist with transportation of athletes and tournament officials during the event. 

  

Venue

Pitch Operator 

  • Assist with management of ball patrol during game time along with game start time as well as time delays. Would coordinate with medical staff, umpires, team benches and game announcers. In charge of water and ice for team benches on main pitch and practice pitch. Also, line painting, cages, corner flags and monitoring water on the pitch. Great at time management for run of show timelines, and preparedness for emergency and weather plans.  

Hospitality

  • Organize and manage food and beverage for special guest and VIPs.
