COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - March 17, 2014 - USA Field Hockey is excited to announce the instatement of Olympic Youth Camps (OYC) this summer as we continue to grow the game and offer additional playing opportunities to all athletes. Following the success of youth programs like FUNdamental Field Hockey, Olympic Youth Camps will provide a week-long training with Team USA athletes across the country. The camps will provide field hockey training, fun and an opportunity to learn from Women’s and Men’s National Team members.
The camps are offered to boys and girls, ages 7-13. Camp locations and registration will be available in the next month. Each camper will have an opportunity to learn skills from the country’s very best while having fun in the traditional day camp structure.
“The Olympic Youth Camp program will be a great way to garner interest in our sport from the ground up,” said Women’s National Team athlete Jamie Montgomery. “It is also an exciting opportunity for members of Team USA to interact with future field hockey players. Hopefully we'll be able to generate more excitement about the sport that we all love.”
The Olympic Youth Camps will also serve as an additional avenue into USA Field Hockey’s Futures program for athletes who are eligible.
