JPOL is Set for an Exciting Weekend of Championships
The final round of pool play has concluded in all of the Junior Premier Outdoor Leagues (JPOL) regions. Now we get ready for an exciting conclusion to the 2014 JPOL where Champions will be crowned with the rights of being the best for one whole year.
On the weekend of June 7th and 8th, the 2014 JPOL will come to an end and Champions from Regions 5, 6 and 7 will be celebrated in both the U-16 and U-19 Divisions.
Since the league started on April 6th, we have witnessed the continued progression and improved performances by all clubs in every region.
In Region 5, after pool play Xcalibur FHC tops the leader board in the U-16 Division and is the current favorite heading into the Championship weekend. Although they are the only undefeated team, they will have some tight competition from East Coast FH in 2nd and Mystx FHC in 3rd especially since these two Clubs were very competitive when they played against them.
In the U-19 Division, Alley Cats and Xcalibur FHC sits on top of the leader board, with the same point total of twenty five (25), with Alley Cats having the better goal difference. These two clubs will be playing for the Championship, and the results from their remaining two pool games will decide the Championship. The other Clubs maybe too far behind in points to catch either of them as they all battling for final ranking.
In Region 6, the competitiveness of all the clubs was very noticeable on the field and reflected in the final scores, where most of the games were won or lost by a one-goal margin.
In the U-16 Division, only two points separate the top three clubs at the end of pool play. New Heights leads the way, with Princeton FHC ranked 2nd as the only undefeated club and Jersey Intensity FH sits 3rd. Each week, these three clubs were the most consistent in fielding a competitive roster, despite all of the conflicts faced with Futures and other Spring Sports.
In the U-19 Division, Jersey Intensity FH and G-Force are ranked 1st in their respective pools. Because of the competitiveness of this division it is very difficult to identify a favorite. However, don’t count out the likes of New Heights, Princeton FHC and Total Dutch FH who will be in hot pursuit of that Crown and a ticket to the National Club Championship (NCC).
The top goal scorers were Ali McCarthy (New Heights) and Samantha Siegel (Total Dutch FH) in the U-16 and U-19 Divisions respectively, with a total of seven and ten goals.
With the Championship results from this Region 6 JPOL being used as the RCC to identify its NCC representatives, we are expecting every game to be highly contested down to the last whistle.
Region 7 was our biggest challenge to date in securing suitable venues and dealing with various issues and conflicts throughout the league. We were able to overcome most of these issues to get it off and running in a timely manner.
In the U-16 Division, both Freedom HKY and SPark are undefeated as they head into the Championship weekend ranked 1st and 2nd, but only by a slight goal difference. One of these two clubs will be Crown the 2014 Champion.
At the end of pool play in the U-19 Division, Gottaloveit was the only undefeated club going 8-0. This will make them the odds on favorite to capture the crown, but both The Gaels FHC and Freedom HKY might have something to say about that.
