Jan. 10, 2014, 1:44 p.m. (ET)

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – USA Field Hockey is pleased to announce the many divisions competing at this year’s National Indoor Tournament, presented by YOLO Sportswear. The National Indoor Tournament will be taking place over the course of three weekends in two states.

The 2014 National Indoor Tournament will kick off during the weekend of February 21-23 with the first ever CoEd Under-12 division playing alongside the Girls Under-14 division in Lancaster, Pa. at Spooky Nook Sports. This extension of divisions aligns with USA Field Hockey's mission to grow the game by offering more exposure to the competitive and fun atmosphere of national events and was a recommendation coming out of the USA Field Hockey Board of Directors meeting earlier in 2013.

For the third year in a row, boys divisions will also compete at the National Indoor Tournament. Last year, a record 56 boys participated. Divisions will be split into Boys Under-15 and Boys Under-21. Both groups will compete in Virginia Beach, Va. March 7-9.

Along with the boys, two adult divisions, Over-19 Women’s and Over-21 Men’s, and the Girls Under-16 division will take place at the Virginia Beach Convention Center March 7-9. The Girls Under-19 division will also compete in Richmond, Va. February 28 - March 2.

“We are excited to increase both the number of participants and the variety of divisions offered at the 2014 National Indoor Tournament,” said Steve Locke, USA Field Hockey Executive Director. “It is our mission to continually grow, expand, and share the game that we love. The added U-12 CoEd division is a great opportunity for younger players to experience the thrill of competition, the boys division helps to improve our boys’ development pipeline, and the adult division provides excitement and a learning opportunity for younger players.”

Registration for the Men’s, Women’s, and Boys divisions is now officially open. Athletes can register as an individual and will be placed on teams prior to the tournament.
