Junior Premier Indoor League Standings

Jan. 07, 2014, 5:12 p.m. (ET)

After holiday treats were eaten and time was spent with family and friends, clubs embarked on the journey to be crowned the 2014 Princess Junior Premier Indoor League Champion beginning the weekend of December 28-29. The league got off to an exciting start with plenty of thrills, high level of competition, and strong officiating.

The addition of the new Under-14 division proved to be an important expansion as the participating clubs kicked off the league with impressive performances. With five competition days in the books, Total Dutch, Pool A, and Spark FHC, Pool B, are out in front for the Under-14 division. This early in the season, it is impossible to predict which teams will come out on top, and Philly HC1 and High Styx FH of Pool A and Horizon FHC and CNY of Pool B surely cannot be counted out just yet. Only time will tell as players anxiously await the resumption of play on January 12 to duke it out to be one of the top four teams in each pool to move on.

In the Under-16 and Under-19 divisions, the reigning 2013 champions are leading the way. High Styx FH and Xcalibur FHC started the league off with perfect records of three wins and no losses in both divisions. Spark FHC and East Coast FH, both playing strong indoor hockey and adapting to the Hockey 5s format, are two teams to look out for as competition continues.

A total of 113 goals have been scored thus far in the Under-16 division. Marissa Poliks, Spark FHC, is the current high scorer, with nine goals. In the Under-19 division, Gabrielle Major, Xcalibur FHC, has scored a total of 14 out of the 109 total netted goals.

In all, 24 teams representing 14 clubs will battle it out for five more dates to see who will reign supreme come February 22 and be crowned the 2014 Princess Junior Premier Indoor League Under-16 and Under-19 Champions. The Under-14 Champion will be crowned on February 17, just in time for National Indoor Tournament competition to begin.

Play for the Under-16 and Under-19 divisions will resume January 11 at the Sportsplex in Pottstown, Pa. and January 12 at the Marple Sports Arena, Broomall, Pa. for the Under-14 division.
