Women's Youth Olympic Squad Athletes give USA Field Hockey fans an inside look at the 2014 YOG Qualifier in Uruguay.

Today we started out with a practice, which helped us get used to the sweltering heat. On the way home from practice we rode on the bus with Team Mexico. We got to listen to their beautiful singing the whole way home.

Next we had a meeting about tactics and rules. Following dinner we headed back to the fields for the opening ceremony. In true American fashion we took many pictures! They escorted us onto the field with music by Uruguayan drummers. After a few speakers a local group put on a performance and even played us an American song - "Ghost Busters".

On the way home we got to talk to the Uruguayan team (who spoke English very well). It was truly a great day! We are off to bed as we have our first game tomorrow versus Uruguay at 10:30 a.m. local time (7:30 a.m. EST).
