April 11, 2014, 6:16 p.m. (ET)

The U.S. Men’s and Women’s Indoor Squads took on Canada in yesterday’s matches at the 2014 Indoor Pan Am Cup.

After going 3-0 in pool play, the Men were already qualified for tomorrow evening’s final. Canada came out hard and fast, playing to clinch their spot in the final match. Team USA created several scoring opportunities, but was unable to execute the finish.

At the end of the first half, Team USA trailed 0-3. The U.S. kept Canada to just one goal in the second half to close out the score 0-4 in favor of Canada.

“We played against a good Canadian side tonight,” said Coach Andrew Thornton. “We will need to limit the turnovers and execute our opportunities in the next game.”

After today’s rest day, the U.S. will take to the court at 6:30 p.m. (5:30 p.m. Eastern time) to battle for a bid at the 2015 Indoor World Cup.

On the Women’s side, Canada opened the game equally as strong. Although Canada was able to score twice, first half play was evenly matched. Team USA produced several scoring opportunities, but was unable to capitalize.

Canada netted its third goal of the match off of a penalty stroke in the 35th minute. The U.S. was unable to answer back and Canada scored twice more off of a penalty corner and field play.

Team USA will take on Uruguay tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. (1:00 p.m. Eastern time) for third place.
