USA Field Hockey Weekly Report
USA Field Hockey Weekly Report-Week of October 7, 2013
Just wanted to remind everyone who may be in the neighborhood of The Nook in Lancaster, Pa. this evening that we are hosting a media event. All are warmly welcomed to attend. This is a great time to come out to see Phase Two of The Nook facility and watch the Women’s National Team during an active practice. There is even an opportunity to get autographs from the players. This is terrific stuff and you will be awestruck when you see the massiveness and quality of the new Home of Field Hockey. Sorry regarding the short notice (it is tonight)…but, we have been advertising on the website for a while and I hope you saw the event details there. Click here to view the official invite. We hope to see you there!
The 2014 FIH Masters World Cup will take place June 5 – 13, 2014 in The Netherlands, coinciding with the women’s and men’s World Cups. Approximately 50 national teams of both genders in age groups from over 40 to over 55 will be taking part in the event. Building on our over-45 men’s team’s participation in the 2012 Masters World Cup, we are planning on sending at least two men’s teams and one women’s team to represent the US. More on the event to follow in the next few months, but the Men’s Masters Committee is now looking for all potential male players who express interest in playing in the next Masters World Cup by a final deadline of November 1, 2013. If you have already contacted us via email@example.com, no further action is needed on your part. Otherwise, please let the Committee know as soon as possible before the deadline. More information about our women’s masters team will also soon be released.
Colorado-Springs based DITA Sticks is hosting a boys-only Indoor event in Colorado Springs beginning Friday December 13, 2013. Sandy Kinnee, the CEO of DITA Field Hockey is the event organizer for a new USA Field Hockey sanctioned event designed for only boys. As in the case of any event producer, there are inherent risks to conducting events (e.g. will anyone show up). To date, Sandy has several teams from Canada showing and the possibility of a South African team (or, maybe up to three). Here is what Sandy writes (please note the link within his commentary that contains event details):
An AMAZING opportunity for U.S. boys!
Boys who ARE NOT on the U.S. National Team will play within this tournament versus teams from outside the U.S.!
There is only ONE SERIOUS PLACE FOR BOYS TO PLAY!
Come play or regret you didn't.
Late Night with Jimmy Fallon: “The government shutdown — no one knows when the government will be back up and running. So if you've ever wanted to cut the tag off your mattress, do it now.”
Have a splendid week!
