USA Field Hockey Weekly Report-Week of February 12, 2013

In our inaugural year of launching a fundraising program to help benefit our athletes, coaches, umpires and fans, we are overwhelmed by the amount of support we received from our friends of USA Field Hockey this year at any capacity. We continue to take strides forward to sustain programs we recently implemented while making improvements to enhance the overall experience with our sport while growing the game.  We want to thank all that supported USA Field Hockey this year.

Here are a few examples of the many ways your support has made a difference this year:

  • Provided financial aid to 97 athletes to participate in the Futures Program that wouldn’t have had the opportunity otherwise totaling over $30,000 in aid
  • Nearly 20,000 children from ages 7-11 were exposed to field hockey this year through our Fundamental Field Hockey program which launched in May 2012
  • Improved our Umpire Development program while adding 66 new umpires this year and progressing 17 umpires to international appointments for 2013 thus far.

THANK YOU!  We look forward to working with you more in the future and hope to have your continued support this year.

A retrospective of the Disney Field Hockey Showcase Thanks to all of you who attended and competed at the Disney Showcase. It was, as per usual, a spectacular event. Karen Collins, our forever competent producer of premium events, was at it again. To top it all off, KC brought  marvelous and flawless weather to Orlando (unlike much of the rest of the country). Thanks to KC and her band of wonderful volunteers!!

There was some consternation regarding the quiet day enforced by the NCAA (i.e. Division I coaches could not be on the venue recruiting). We found out about this policy around two weeks prior to the Disney Field Hockey Showcase. We will work to receive better notice on National Signing Day and recruiting policies related to it going forward.

We are excited for boys to compete during the National Indoor Tournament in Richmond, Va., March 1-3. USA Field Hockey is committed to growing men's field hockey nationwide. If you know of any boys interested in playing, please visit usafieldhockey.com. Registration is still open!
