USA Field Hockey announces partnership with AstroTurf®through 2016 
AstroTurf® will be the Official Turf Provider for USA Field Hockey

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - February 11, 2013 - Today AstroTurf®, an industry leader for synthetic field hockey playing surfaces in the United States and around the world, signed a partnership to be the Official Turf Provider for USA Field Hockey through 2016. The multi-year agreement will also make AstroTurf® the presenting sponsor of college coach hospitality at all USA Field Hockey national events.

“We are working with USA Field Hockey coaches, players and staff to develop more interest in the middle school, high school and private school sectors to expose more athletes to field hockey at an earlier age,” said Andy Belles, Brand Manager for AstroTurf®. “New products on the forefront will help with managing and utilizing water more efficiently and portable surfaces that don’t sacrifice the quality of play are soon to be launched. Our goal in the United States is to help grow the game of field hockey and we could not be more pleased to be the official turf providers of USA Field Hockey.”

AstroTurf® is the inventor of synthetic turf and is one of the most iconic brands in American sports. AstroTurf® was first used in an international field hockey event in 1975 in Montreal. AstroTurf® surfaces were used in the 1975, 1996 and 2008 Olympic Games as well as numerous other international events including Pan American Games and World Cups. AstroTurf® surfaces are utilized by many top collegiate field hockey programs, including, University of Maryland, University of North Carolina, University of Virginia and Old Dominion University. It was the surface used for the 2012 NCAA Division I Championship.

The U.S. Women’s National Team trains and competes on AstroTurf® at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Cali. and Virginia Beach, Va. 

Over the last 40 years, AstroTurf® has installed over 160,000,000 feet square of synthetic turf worldwide.
