Swapping snow for sand at the 2013 Festival

Dec. 02, 2013, 12 a.m. (ET)

The 2013 National Field Hockey Festival, sponsored by CranBarry, gathered 9,000 field hockey enthusiasts to Palm Beach County, Fla. to share in an annual tradition of turkey and turf. In most parts of the U.S. November brings brisk winds and flurries. Festival participants dodged the cold front by venturing to the warmth of Florida. Old friends reunited and new were forged throughout the venue’s astounding 31 pitches.

“The International Polo Club was truly a remarkable site to hold this world renowned event,” said Karen Collins, USA Field Hockey’s Director of Events and Logistics. “Festival is a holiday in itself. Thousands of field hockey athletes, umpires, coaches and fans pour into one central location to celebrate the sport. Participants are emerged in a four-day unique experience and leave the event already eager for next year’s Festival.”

The 2014 National Field Hockey Festival will return to the West Coast in Palm Springs, Cali. Look to usafieldhockey.com for more details pertaining next year’s event.
