Youth Sanctioned Event at The Edge Sports Center

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - August 29, 2013 - USA Field Hockey is thrilled to announce its first ever youth sanctioned event hosted by The Edge Fall Field Hockey League located in Bedford, Massachusetts. The league will offer programming to any U12 and U14 athlete interested in playing the game.  

The Edge Fall Field Hockey League is designed for young players craving top level coaching and the opportunity to compete in a newly renovated facility. As the home of the Wizards Field Hockey Club, it invites individual players, high school teams, recreation programs and clubs to participate in the league starting on September 14, 2013—National Field Hockey Day!  

The league is separated into two divisions, The Youth Development League consisting of 5th and 6th graders and The Junior Development League open to 7th and 8th graders.  Each session will offer additional drill instruction before each game and will comprise of 12 games in the 6 week long period.  

The Edge Fall Field Hockey League embodies development as it also offers an umpire training opportunity. There will be a USA Field Hockey Level II Umpire present to train the youthful prospects interested in wearing a whistle. No prior experience in umpiring is necessary, but prior playing experience and basic game knowledge is beneficial.
