Colorado Springs, Colo. - August 29, 2013 - The upcoming year holds an incredible opportunity for the veteran hockey enthusiasts in our community. The FIH and IMHA, International Masters Hockey Association, have confirmed that the 2014 FIH Masters World Cup will be held from June 5 -13, 2014 at Hockeyclub Rotterdam, in The Netherlands. Hockeyclub Rotterdam is a premier facility located in Rotterdam that hosts a variety of field hockey fanatics, from toddlers to seniors and recreational leagues to high caliber competitions.
Team USA intends to send two men’s national teams, one in the Over-40 and one in the Over-50 age groups, and one women’s O-40 national team to play in the event. All three teams will be comprised of 18 players each. Age is determined as of December 31, 2014. For example, if you turn 40 in 2014, you are eligible to play in the O-40 division. The Masters World Cup coincides with the ‘other’ FIH Men’s and Women’s World Cups to be held 20 miles away in The Hague, and there will be plenty of opportunities on off-days to watch matches at those tournaments. In addition, the timing of next year’s event will help those college coaches who have been unable to play in previous international Masters Tournaments due to college pre-season.
If you are interested in being considered for any of the teams, please email Warren Prestwich, Men’s Masters Coordinator, at firstname.lastname@example.org, or Pam Stuper, Women’s Masters Coordinator, at email@example.com as soon as possible.
