USA Field Hockey Weekly Report-Week of September 10, 2012

Today is a solemn day within USA history. Eleven years ago we experienced one of the most traumatic events in the USA with the tragedies that took place in Washington, DC, Pennsylvania and New York City. Those events have shaped who we are today. I hope all of us take a little time to remember the victims from that horrible day, and hope that we continue being vigilante so history does not repeat itself.

This weekend is National Field Hockey Day. USA Field Hockey is excited to celebrate National Field Hockey Day this Saturday, September 15. The goal of National Field Hockey Day is to increase awareness of our sport and inspire participation throughout our community. We will be celebrating all weekend long with contests, clinics, trivia, and more. Each of you can get involved in several ways…

Pick up a stick yourself or introduce someone new to the sport. This weekend is the perfect excuse to get involved, but don’t forget to send us your favorite photos!

Tis’ the season, so go out and watch a game in your area. You can find a list of NCAA field hockey matches by visiting usafieldhockey.com. The collegiate game with the highest attendance over the weekend will win a prize from Harrow Sports and USA Field Hockey.

Host a clinic National Field Hockey Day is also a great chance to host a clinic after your game or at your club. If you plan on hosting any free or open events to celebrate, please email them to sattles@usafieldhockey.com.

To show us how you and your friends are celebrating, tweet @USAFieldHockey, use the Twitter hashtag #fieldhockeyday, or email your stories, photos, and videos to funfh@usafieldhockey.com all weekend long.
