Walsh and Bodimeade to leave USA Field Hockey at end of year
Today, USA Field Hockey announced that the contracts of Terry Walsh, Technical Director of High Performance and Lee Bodimeade, Women’s National Team Head Coach, will not extend beyond 2012 by mutual agreement.
Walsh joined USA Field Hockey in 2005. Over the last eight years, he has shaped considerable change in the development and high performance aspects of the sport in the United States.
“We are very grateful for Terry’s contributions to USA Field Hockey over the last eight years. He has given much to the sport in our country and we wish him all the best in his future endeavors,” said Steve Locke, Executive Director, USA Field Hockey.
Bodimeade also joined USA Field Hockey in 2005. Defeating world ranked No. 1 Argentina at the XVI Pan American Games in Guadalajara for the first time in history and qualifying for two Olympic Games in succession are highlights of his contributions.
“We sincerely appreciate the commitment and dedication Lee has given to the organization. He is a talented coach and we wish him much success in his future pursuits,” said Locke. The decision follows discussion with Bodimeade regarding his future direction of his and his family’s life and the extensive, thorough, and objective review of the High Performance program led by Dr Peter Davis, PhD.
A global search will begin immediately to secure the most qualified candidates capable of leading USA Field Hockey’s national program to sustained international success.“We are committed to international success and know the future is bright as we build toward the 2016 Olympic Games. As we embark on the recruitment process, we are confident that we will attract world class candidates,” commented Locke.
