Procter & Gamble Announces Support of FUNdamental Field Hockey Program
Procter & Gamble announces support of USA Field Hockey's FUNdamental Field Hockey Program through $50,000 grant as Part of USOC's P&G | Team USA Youth Sports Fund

Colorado Springs, CO - USA Field Hockey is eager to announce a new partnership with Procter & Gamble, which includes a $50,000 grant from the P&G | Team USA Youth Sports Fund.

“USA Field Hockey is very thankful to P&G for its grant of $50,000 that will be used to support our youth development program, Fundamental Field Hockey,” said Steve Locke, USA Field Hockey Executive Director. “P&G’s commitment to this program will help to further develop the next generation of hockey players from recreational to elite.”

The P&G | Team USA Youth Sports Fund benefits USOC youth sport organizations across the country and donations are executed through the National Governing Bodies (NGBs) to support their programs for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Several NGBs will receive grants including archery, blind athletes, field hockey, gymnastics, swimming, volleyball (beach and sitting), water polo and wrestling, which will impact millions of kids across the United States.

“On behalf of the United States Olympic Committee, I’d like to thank P&G for their commitment to youth sports through the USOC’s P&G | Team USA Youth Sports Fund,” said USOC CEO Scott Blackmun. “Their donations will help develop the next generation of athletes and spread the Olympic Values of excellence, friendship and respect.”

USA Field Hockey submitted its youth development program, Fundamental Field Hockey, for the grant in early 2012. Fundamental Field Hockey is a youth development initiative by USA Field Hockey to expose the sport and inspire participation amongst 15,000 boys and girls in 2012. The program provides free field hockey curriculum and equipment, by Harrow Sports, to elementary schools, YMCAs, Boys and Girls Clubs, and Parks and Recreation centers. This is the second time Fundamental Field Hockey has been nationally recognized for its mission to grow the game of field hockey. Earlier in the year, Partnership for A Healthier America announced it would team up with Fundamental Field Hockey in an overall commitment to encourage over 1.7 million youth in the country to participate in grassroots level Olympic and Paralympic sports.
