Philadelphia – Drexel's field hockey Head Coach Denise Zelenak has been selected to coach the USA Field Hockey Women's Junior Indoor National Team. Zelenak will begin her assignment on Saturday, April 2 as players throughout the nation will try out for a spot on the team and a chance to compete at the Junior Pam Am Indoor Cup in 2013.

At Drexel, Zelenak has reshaped the field hockey program since she took over the team in the 1995 season. In 16 seasons, Zelenak has posted 166 wins and has turned Drexel field hockey into a nationally ranked program.

In 2010, Zelenak led the Dragons to an at-large bid in the NCAA Tournament, which marked the first team of any sport at Drexel to be awarded an at-large selection to the national championships. The Dragons defeated UConn to advance to the Elite Eight before falling to top-ranked Maryland. Zelenak has also guided the Dragons to four-straight CAA Championship appearances.

Zelenak has not only built a legacy for Drexel field hockey, but continues to make strides at a national level. In 2006- 2010, she was the coach the USA Men's Junior High Performance’s East Coast team. Zelenak is currently coaching the USA Women's Junior High Performance team at the New Jersey site and the USA Futures Elite team at Site A in the PA Region 5.
Zelenak’s national field hockey experience also includes playing for the USA Women’s Indoor National team from 2004-2010. She was a member of the U.S. teams that played against England, Scotland, Austria, Slovakia, Canada and Denmark. Zelenak captured two silver medals at the 2005 Pan Am’s in Canada and at the 2009 Pan Am’s in Argentina.
