England Beats USA in Final Minutes
USA competed in their third match of the Indoor World Cup this afternoon against England. Both teams started slowly, as England and USA had a match earlier this morning. It was a close match, tied 2-2 until the final minutes of play.
Richard Mantell missed the first big opportunity to score for England when his penalty corner was denied. Richard Smith was able to capitialize on England's second penalty corner with a direct shot into the goal. USA fought back in the last minute of the first half after the crowd saw Sean Harris (Moorpark, CA) and Moritz Runzi (Boston, MA) linking well.
USA and England were tied 1-1 going into the second half. In the twenty-third minute, Richard Mantell enabled England to take the lead again with a second goal off of a penalty corner. USA was awarded a penalty stroke and Patrick Harris (Moorpark, CA) was able to put the ball past English goalie George Pinner. England's James Tindall scored the game winning goal, finalizing their victory 3-2. USA played with six field players during the last 45 seconds of play.
