USA Field Hockey seeking Communications Intern
Communications Department Overview
The Communications Department’s main responsibilities are to develop and implement comprehensive public relations, media relations and publicity programs for USA Field Hockey. The mission is to increase awareness of field hockey and USA Field Hockey in the United States and enhance the image of the game, players, and USA Field Hockey as an organization. The Marketing and Communications Department is a team-oriented environment that consistently works under deadlines.
This position supports the Communications Department in executing the organization’s initiatives and administering day-to-day responsibilities. The Communications intern will be required to effectively communicate and handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously. The position requires the ability to write, edit, organize content, meet deadlines and proactively contribute across multiple areas of the business. A high level of professionalism, commitment to hard work, knowledge of field hockey and strong creativity and writing skills are all beneficial in this job. Working hours during the week are flexible.
May include: Writing and editing press releases, features, match reports, and publications provided to media, members, staff and partners; Gathering materials, including images, copy and other pertinent information for our magazine and event programs; Updating media lists on webpoint; Updating our website and social media channels regularly, posting written, audio and video content; Participating in Communications Department meetings and events, assisting with implementing the objectives of the department
Education, Work Experience, Special Skills/Knowledge Required
Candidate should be (at minimum) working towards a bachelor’s degree. Strong writing and editing skills are a requirement. Creative, designing skills and knowledge of the sport is beneficial.
