COLORADO SPRINGS, C.O. – The USA U-17 Women’s National Team competed in their second match in Holland against a strong Pinoke Team this afternoon. Pinoke defeated USA 5-3.

Kelcie Hromisin (Larksville, Pa) scored USA’s first and only goal in the first half on a pass from a baseline drive. Pinoke slipped a shot past USA goalkeeper Samantha Zeiders (Hummelstown, Pa), making the match tied 1-1 going into the second half.

Kelly Stump (Allentown, Pa) had her second goal of this tour, when she intercepted a pass and fired a shot past Pinoke goalie. Gabrielle Major (Royersford, Pa) finished the scoring for USA with less than five minutes remaining in the second half. Pinoke was able to launch four more shots past goalkeeper Shannon Johnson (Oceanport, NJ) to end the match 5-3.

“I expected a stiff competition and Pinoke delivere,” said Shellie Onstead, Head Coach. “This is a top team for their age group. According to their coach, they practice three times a week and play on the weekend. With that in mind, I am happy with our performance and look to build on that tomorrow against Ireland.”

USA will play Ireland tomorrow at 3:00pm (local time) before competing in the DOMO Easter Tournament over the weekend.
