Embracing the Culture

Hey USA field hockey supporters!

Today was the beginning of our tour in Chile. We arrived in Santiago around 8:00 in the morning after a 10 hour flight. Most of the Chileans here seem to speak decent English, except one of the clerks at customs. This caused a little confusion but it was a good thing a few of our girls were able help translate! After leaving the airport we went straight to the Hotel Director to have breakfast and meet our guide. We did not have much time to rest before practicing in the afternoon. Although we only practiced for a few hours, the weather was a big change for many of our east coast teammates. It was 80 degrees, dry, and very sunny. After getting some sun on the pitch, we returned to the hotel to eat a spaghetti lunch. Later, half of our team worked their abs and listened to music…gotta work on those beach bodies! We got cleaned up for a nice team dinner and hung out and hydrated in preparation for our first match tomorrow. Go USA!!
