USA Field Hockey Launches New Website

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO.- USA Field Hockey launched a new look and feel to their website today. The new site will provide field hockey players, umpires, coaches and fans with the latest news and developments, events and results. This dynamic new website will feature rich video highlights and streaming videos of field hockey events, intriguing athlete bios and video blogs as well as social networking tools.

USA Field Hockey's new website is being published within the United State Olympic Committee's website. Visitors to now have easy access to 46 sites, one for every National Governing Body of an Olympic sport. The site gets 500,000 unique visitors per month and averaged nearly two million this past February during the Vancouver Olympic Games.

In an effort to simplify navigation and allow users to find information most efficiently, the new site consolidates the many disparate features of the old site under eight main tabs on the homepage. From here, the user can easily navigate to any part of the site to quickly find relevant and useful information they are seeking.

Easily accessible from the homepage are links to USA Field Hockey’s Facebook and Twitter accounts. With nearly 7,500 fans, the Facebook page is updated daily with information on USA Field Hockey's National and developmental teams. Fans are encouraged to be interactive and comment or post opinions and pictures and participate in a number of promotional opportunities and contests. During events, USA Field Hockey tweets will inform followers regarding weather conditions, highlights and scores of the games presently happening.

Another fun feature to the newly constructed website are athlete and video blogs. Fans can get an inside look into the lives of the top-level athletes. Claire Laubach's, "Chewie", brings viewers behind the scenes of a typical workout, her favorite restaurants, and fun weekend activities. Katie Evan's and Michelle Kasold's blogs illustrate the cultural differences within the sport and their everyday lives while they live abroad. Evan has been filming in Canterbury, England and Kasold has been writing from Holland.

The new site will keep the same web address as the old, and will roll out across the country in approximately 48 hours. Some visitors may need to refresh the browser in order to see the new site.
