Inaugural Festival Golf Tournament A Success

PHOENIX, ARIZONA – USA Field Hockey hosted its first annual Golf Tournament on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at the Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort in Phoenix, Arizona. All proceeds from the Tournament went directly to the Futures Scholarship Fund.

The Futures Program is USA Field Hockey’s Olympic pipeline program. The mission of the program is to regionally develop the best athletes for the purpose of identifying talented “future” Olympic level athletes, and to strengthen the level of field hockey throughout the United States.

Every year talented athletes are unable to afford the Futures tuition. The Golf Tournament can help make the difference in allowing young athletes to continue their hockey journeys towards one day representing the USA.

Fifty participants came out to play in USA Field Hockey’s first Golf Tournament. The Phoenix Sports Commission and the Phoenix Convention and Visitors Bureau tied with a final score of 59. Following the Tournament was a banquet with a buffet dinner, awards and door prizes for all participants.
