Hola this is Jon and Sean updating you guys from Argentina! After our adventurous 20 hours of flying from LA we have landed in the great city of Buenos Aires, which translates literally to “Good Airs”. Since it’s summer time here we are experiencing the lovely 90-degree heat and the rain showers that follow that in the afternoon.
After a couple days of practicing we have played our first match and won by a score of 1-0. We like to give a shout out to Andy Sheridan for his phenomenal goal yesterday followed by his disco fingers. After everyone was done celebrating with him, he continued the celebration on his own until the Argentinean's started play again.
Another milestone in this victory was by Arjan Reyatt, who earned his 50th CAP. He was later awarded in the game debrief with some heroic looking photos of the team and himself in a post-modern frame. The night before the game we got to experience a premier division soccer game against Racing Club and Velez. The game was held at Racing Club’s stadium and it was gigantic! They estimated about 30,000 spectators and they were not wrong. The big crowds game prepared for their team and we got to experience first hand how the Argentinean fans support their clubs. At one point in the second half they had to stop the game because you couldn't see the goal nor the goalie from all the smoke bombs and fireworks the Racing spectators threw on the field. The funniest part was that they threw the smoke bombs at their OWN GOALIE! We caught ourselves watching the fans instead of the game at times in the match. It was epic, to say the least. Well, we are off for a walk and stretch so stay tuned!
