Tickets on sale now for 2017 World Championship Trials
Tickets are on sale now for the USA Diving World Championships Trials to be held May 19-21 in Indianapolis.
All-session passes are available in advance online for $15 or $25 at the door. Single-session tickets are $10 per day. Youth and students (ages 6-12 or with a valid student ID) can purchase all-session passes for $10 (online advance sales) or for $5 per day.
Competition will be held at the IU Natatorium on the campus of IUPUI, also the site of the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials for diving. A number of the divers who made the Olympic Team in Indianapolis last year will be competing at the World Championship Trials.
The final eight spots on the World Championships team will be up for grabs at the trials, with two spots available on each of the men’s and women’s 3-meter and 10-meter events.
USA Diving selected its synchronized teams for the World Championships at the USA Diving Synchronized National Championships in Atlanta earlier this month, and the 1-meter spots were determined at the 2016 USA Diving Winter National Championships.
Twelve divers have already made the World Championships team. 2016 Olympic silver medalists Michael Hixon (Amherst, Mass./Bloomington, Ind.) and Steele Johnson (Carmel, Ind./West Lafayette, Ind.) have each qualified in two events so far, as have rising stars Maria Coburn (Round Rock, Texas) and Tarrin Gilliland (Midland, Texas). 2016 Olympians Kassidy Cook (Stanford, Calif./The Woodlands, Texas), Sam Dorman (Tempe, Ariz./Miami, Fla.) and Jessica Parratto (Dover, N.H./Bloomington, Ind.) along with Andrew Capobianco (Holly Springs, N.C.), Alison Gibson (Austin, Texas), Briadam Herrera (Miami, Fla.), Brandon Loschiavo (Huntington Beach, Calif./West Lafayette, Ind.) and Lauren Reedy (Rochester Hills, Mich./Columbia, Mo.) have each qualified in one event.
The World Championships will be held July 14-22 in Budapest, Hungary.
