Project 2018 is a component of the USA Curling High Performance Program aimed at identifying and developing the USA’s best young curling talent for future competitive success. Athletes in this program work with National Program Coaches, 2010 Olympian John Benton and 2010 Olympic Coach Phill Drobnick, during select bonspiels, championships, and training camps. They also receive funding for training and competition expenses.
Indvidiual athletes and teams have the opportunity to apply for invitation to this select group each spring. Selection is based on performance and results at national and international events during the preceding two-year period. Results from the following may be used to assess prospective athletes and teams – Olympic Games, World Championships, World University Games, World Junior Championships, World Curling Tour, U.S. National Championships, and U.S. Junior National Championships.
