The Youth Coach program is designed for individuals who volunteer for or run youth curling programs in local curling clubs. Youth coaches typically work with children who are 12 and under. However, the Junior Coaching program may be more appropriate for some coaches working with competitive or advanced pre-teen groups. 

Certification Requirements

Coaching Experience:

  • At least 10 hours of coaching youth curlers in a curling club, school-based curling program, or curling camp
General Requirements:
  • Register as member of the USA Curling Coaches Association
  • Read and agree to Coaches Code of Ethics
  • Pass background check through National Center for Safety Initiatives (NCSI) (must be valid)
  • Read USA Curling SafeSport Handbook
  • Complete First Aid certification (must be valid)

NOTE: Prior to 4/15, PCA course “Second Goal Parent®: Developing Winners in Life through Sports” was required for this certification. Anyone who took that course prior to 4/15 can substitute it for “Double-Goal Coach®: Coaching for Winning and Life Lessons” on the certification application.
