Lansing set to host 2014 Arena National Championships

(STEVENS POINT, Wis.) - The Summit Sports and Ice Complex in Lansing, Mich., is set to host USA Curling's second Arena National Championships this weekend in partnership with the Lansing Curling Club and Greater Lansing Sports Authority.  Action gets underway Thursday morning at 8 a.m. CT and continues through Sunday when the men's and women's national champs will be crowned.

The Arena Nationals are aimed at providing a championship event for USA Curling member clubs utilizing non-traditional curling ice (arena setting) throughout the season. The inaugural event took place in Fort Wayne, Ind., last summer. This year's field will once again contain 32 teams - 16 men's and 16 women's teams. The men's defending champions - Garnet Eckstrand's team from Kalamazoo, Mich. - are back this year looking for a repeat for the Kalamazoo Curling Club. The field is represented by teams from 15 U.S. states from California to Oklahoma to South Carolina.

Live scoring courtesy of USA Curling partner CurlingZone will be available throughout the event for fans to follow along. To learn more, visit www.usacurl.org. A draw party is taking place tonight to determine the first round of pairings for the triple knockout competition.
