By Marc Deperno | Feb. 18, 2014, midnight (ET)

The 2014 U.S. Wheelchair Curling Pre-Trials will take place on March 27-30, 2014, at the Blackhawk Curling Club located in Janesville, Wis.  This event is open to anyone to attend.  There, the participating athletes will be graded and ranked from a panel of judges based on evaluation of skill, game knowledge and strategy, team dynamics, leadership and potential.  A number of these athletes, to be determined by May 1, 2014, will be invited to attend the 2015 U.S. National Team Trials to take place in October 2014 in Utica, N.Y.  There, they will compete with the returning members of the 2014 Paralympic Team.  The number of athletes from the Pre-Trials will be determined by May 1, 2014, as the members of the 2014 Paralympic Team must declare their registration for the 2015 U.S. National Team Trials by April 30, 2014.

In the event that less than eight athletes register for the Pre-Trials, the Pre-Trial will be cancelled and those who registered prior to the deadline will automatically be invited to the 2015 U.S. National Team Trials.

The field for the 2015 U.S. National Team Trials will be comprised of the top 12 athletes based on ranking from the Pre-Trials and the number of returning members from the 2014 Paralympic Team.  A minimum of two of each gender is required in the field of twelve athletes.  At the completion of the 2015 U.S. National Team Trials, the panel of judges will nominate the five athletes to represent the United States at the 2015 World Wheelchair Curling Championships.

Athletes must register for the Pre-Trials by clicking here. The deadline for registration is Feb. 27, 2014.
