Apr 30 Americans Appointed to WCF Commisions

Mark Swandby (Madison, Wis.), a past president of the United States Curling Association (USCA) and current board member and WCF representative, has been nominated to the Competition and Rules Commission. Ann Swisshelm (Chicago), reigning U.S. women's national champion and USCA board member, has been appointed to the WCF Athlete Commission.

"We are very proud to have Mark and Ann represent the United States on these vital WCF commissions," said Rick Patzke, chief operating officer for USA Curling. "Having worked with them both for many years, I am confident that they will have a great impact while serving in these posts."

The WCF Athlete Commission will be chaired by 2002 Olympic gold medallist and WCF vice president, Bent Ramsfjell of Norway. Six athletes have been selected by the WCF Executive Board from a pool nominated by WCF member associations to form the inaugural WCF Athlete Commission. They include: two-time Olympic gold medallist and two-time world champion Cathrine Lindahl of Sweden; 2009 world champion Bingyu Wang of China; 2007 world champion Kelly Scott of Canada; 2003 world champion Swisshelm from the USA; two-time world wheelchair curling champion and Paralympic silver medallist Michael McCreadie from Scotland; and 2006 European champion Andreas Schwaller from Switzerland.
