eBay auction to give fans opportunity to face on ice at 2010 US Olympic Team trials

Jan. 28, 2009, 1:15 p.m. (ET)

(STEVENS POINT, Wis.) - Ever wanted to be "IN" a U.S. Olympic Team Trials? Well, here's your chance. USA Curling and Denver Sports announced today the launch of the "Buy The Button" promotion in advance of next month's 2009 USA Curling National Championships, where the nominees for the 2010 U.S. Olympic Team will be selected.

OK, so it's not as a competitor, but you can still get your face into the center of the action, literally. The "button" is the center, or bulls-eye, of the scoring area, called the "house." This is the most coveted spot on a curling sheet. With a minimum $1,150 bid, the "Buy The Button" auction will allow the winners to have their face placed in ice on the button, where it will remain throughout the competition.

"Who wouldn't want to be part of an Olympic selection event?" said KieAnn Brownell, President of Denver Sports. "Our goal is to raise awareness and do something fun and creative around the U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Curling."

The "Buy The Button" promotion is available on eBay at http://tinyurl.com/buythebutton The minimum bid is $1,150 and includes 10 tickets to the women's and men's final matches on Saturday, Feb. 28 at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. MST. The auction runs from Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009, through Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009. There are four "face on the button" locations available. No corporate logos, text or other commercial or promotional materials is allowed. Winners either have to be 18 years of age or have a signed release by a parent or guardian. You can buy the button for someone else, but they have to sign a release for use of their image. Photos will not be returned. Denver Sports and USA Curling reserve the right to reject any winning bid or photo if the photo is deemed to be obscene, distasteful, or otherwise unsuitable for this promotion.

The 2009 USA Curling Nationals run from Feb. 21-28, 2009, at the Broomfield Events Center. Tickets are available at www.buycurlingtickets.com.
