USA men win second straight at 2009 Winter WWUG

(STEVENS POINT, Wis.) - Chris Pleasants led Team USA to its second straight win Sunday night at the 2009 Winter World University Games at the Heilongjiang Skating Gym in Harbin, China.

Pleasants and teammates Zachary Radmer (Seattle), Jon Chartrand (Seattle) and Bret Nordlund (Issaquah, Wash.) defeated Finland this morning, 12-4, and then got past Japan, 9-5.

The USA women posted their first win of the round robin as well as Katherine Stewart (Minneapolis) and teammates Amanda McLean (Duluth, Minn.), Casey Cucchiarelli (Wausau, Wis.) and Sarah Mcleod (Esko, Minn.) defeated Poland, 8-5, this afternoon.

The teams return to the ice Monday when the men play Sweden at 2 p.m. and the women play Great Britain and the Czech Republic (local time, eight hours ahead of CT).
