January 17, 2008 Mayfield to host men's club playdown (STEVENS POINT, Wis.) - The Mayfield Curling Club in South Euclid, Ohio, is set to host the Great Lakes men's club national playoff beginning Friday. The U.S. Club Nationals, now in its fourth year, does not lead to the World Championships, rather rewards the top men's and women's club/league teams in the U.S. The Else Festersen rink from the Mayfield Curling Club has already qualified for the event in the women's division and will represent the Great Lakes region at the 2008 USA Curling Club National Championships March 1-8 in Mankato, Minn. Five men's team will compete to represent the region. The action gets underway Friday afternoon at the three-sheet curling club located at 1545 Sheridan Road in South Euclid.
