FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 2, 2008 USA Curling inks three-year deal with CurlTV.com (STEVENS POINT, Wis.) - USA Curling has signed a three-year deal to provide each of its approximately 15,000 registered members with an annual subscription to CurlTV.com, the world's first and only Internet-TV network dedicated to the sport of curling. The CurlTV.com subscriptions - which will now be included with every USCA membership - will give U.S. curlers direct access to exclusive live coverage of curling events in North America and Europe that are otherwise not available on commercial television networks. The subscriptions also will give U.S. curlers 24/7 on-demand access to a huge library of more than 400 previously-recorded curling events from the past three years. CurlTV.com programming also includes game analysis by world champion curler (and CurlTV.com president) David Nedohin, as well as player tips, skills development tools and educational resources. The retail value of a CurlTV.com annual subscription is normally $59.95. "I am thrilled to see the foresight that the USCA has in recognizing that the future of media for the sport of curling lies in the Internet," Nedohin said. "We are very excited to be able to provide this incredible resource to every registered curler in the USA, and certainly feel that if we can add to the growth of the sport in this area, we are meeting one of our main objectives. Hopefully, the biggest result will be increased interest in the junior ranks, who until now typically could not afford these types of online subscriptions. With the USCA already on board, we look forward to many other associations both within Canada and around the world joining this movement." The 500-year-old sport of curling has grown steadily in the United States since it was tabbed with "cult status" at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games, where NBC carried more than 50 hours of curling coverage, primarily on cable outlets MSNBC and CNBC. NBC's interest and coverage was even greater at the 2006 Olympics in Torino, and the net effect has been a 21 percent increase in the USCA's membership since 2002. "The USCA is proud to be forming a partnership with CurlTV.com that provides a significant new benefit to each and every one of our members," said USCA President Georgia West. "CurlTV.com is a great resource for all curlers, from those playing for their first time all the way up to international medalists. We believe that this partnership can further enhance the exposure of curling in the United States and lead to greater growth and benefits for all involved." CurlTV.com was launched in 2005, and now attracts an annual Internet audience of almost 390,000 unique visitors.
