USA Canoe/Kayak introduces three new members to its Board of Directors. Six-time Paralympian Bob Balk was appointed to the Board as a representative of the Paracanoe discipline, which makes its Paralympic debut at the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Anna Minto, CEO of consulting firm Transformational Change, LLC, joins the Board as an Independent Director.

April Romeo, a lawyer and Women’s Kayak Polo National Team member, was elected to a four-year term as World Sport Director. Romeo captained the 2012 U.S. National Kayak Polo Team that qualified for the 2013 World Games in Cali, Colombia.

Oklahoma City Boathouse Foundation Executive Director Mike Knopp and three-time Olympian Scott Shipley were re-elected to four-year terms as Sprint Director and Slalom Athlete Representative, respectively.

USA Canoe/Kayak recognizes outgoing World Sport Director Ross Flemer for four years of outstanding contribution and service to the sport

“We are honored to have these great folks join us on our journey,” said USA Canoe/Kayak Bob Lally. “Their credentials are most impressive and we truly are fortunate to have them on our team and USA Canoe/Kayak has much to gain. Of significant note, having Bob Balk on our board representing our ParaCanoe discipline is a first for our enterprise. This is a glass ceiling breaking event and reflects powerfully on who we are as a National Governing Body, our inclusiveness and transparency as we move forward and all the athletes we represent.”
