Happy Holidays, again!

Dec. 19, 2011, 11:10 p.m. (ET)
I am back home in Maryland to celebrate Christmas with my family before heading off for some crosscountry skiing with the team at the Lake Placid OTC next week, and we got a little creative with the holiday classic below! Be sure to check back for updates from Lake Placid, and eventually Australia! I can't wait to race again! In the meantime, enjoy! Happy holidays from my family to yours!

‘Twas the night before Christmas and all through the States
Not a paddler was stirring through any of the gates.
The kayaks were all stacked in the boathouse with care
In hopes the Slalom Angel soon would be there.
The US paddlers were all snug in their beds
While visions of gold medals danced in their heads.
Joe, Will, Gerald and Rafal sporting new USACK caps
Were all settled in for a long winter’s nap.
When out on the water there arose such a splatter
Team USA rose to see what was the matter.
Away to the windows they flew like a flash
And rushed to see what there was asplash.
When what to their hopeful eyes should appear
But a Galasport Sonic with eight tiny reindeer.
A jolly little paddler so lively and spry
They knew in a moment it must be St. Poberaj!
He was dressed in neoprene from head to foot,
And his clothes were all covered in Potomac soot.
Faster than eagles his courses they came.
He whistled, shouted and called them by name:
Now Brett, now Ashley, now Casey and Michelle,
On Eric, on Jeff, on Scotty and Tad, as well!
He spoke not a word, but went straight to work
And filled the team’s stockings like a man berserk.
When these joyous tasks drew to a close
The happy elf smiled and wrinkled his nose.
He sprang to his Sonic, let out a whistle -
And away they all flew like a low flying missile.
But the team heard him exclaim as he paddled out of sight,
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!
