Ryan Dolan Wins Silver at Youth Olympics

Jan. 16, 2009, 9:15 a.m. (ET)

While competing against some of the world's top juniors, Ryan Dolan won silver today in the men's 500m K1 at the AYOF in Sydney. His time was a personal best of 1:42.82. He finished a mere .1 off the gold medal winner Edward Rutherford of Great Britain. This is really an incredible result for Ryan considering the amount of time he has spent in a sprint boat. This is great news for the program.

Ryan is the younger brother of national team member, Pat Dolan.  The USOC is currently running a feature story on Ryan which can be read here.
