USACK National Team Competes Hard at '08 Marathon Worlds

Sept. 30, 2008, 11:24 a.m. (ET)

The USA Canoe/Kayak (USACK) Marathon Team recently returned from representing the U.S. at the World Championships in the Czech Republic.  The 5 member team (including returning World team members Jason Quagliata and Reid Hyle, as well as Austin Schwin, the U.S.' sole junior entry and the women's team of Anne Blanchard and Kaitlyn McElroy) competed on September 20th and 21st against the best marathon paddlers in the world.

The championships took place at Tyn nad Vltavou, site of the 2003 Marathon Worlds which were cancelled due to the extreme flooding throughout Europe that year.  The U.S. made a strong showing in every event and gained valuable international race experience, looking forward to competing at Marathon Trials in 2009 and hopefully improving their international performance next year.
