USA Canoe/Kayak Coaches Association Announces Coach of the Year Awards

Dave Robertson, 2008 Coach of the Year
Dave is the Head Coach of Lanier Canoe and Kayak Club. In 2008, LCKC had a number of outstanding individual and team performances. Lanier athletes began to show their 2008 potential with strong a very strong performance at the Trials in Oklahoma City. This pattern of LCKC athletes standing on podiums continued at the Pan Am Championships, Canada Day Regatta and Lake Placid International. This year finished with a bang at the National Championships in August with the Lanier Canoe and Kayak club winning the overall club championship. Dave was named as the Head Coach of the 2008 Team USA at the Pan Am Championships. He served as a Director with the USA Canoe Kayak Coaches Association and as an instructor with the Coaching Education program of USA Canoe Kayak.

Alan Anderson, 2007 Coach of the Year
In 2002, Alan Anderson formed the Gig Harbor Canoe and Kayak Club. Operating from a modest “storage shed” in a parking lot overlooking the picture post card perfect Gig Harbor, Alan as the Head Coach, has nurtured his small band of dedicated young men and women to National and International recognition.
Building from a strong base of under 14 year olds, Gig Harbor has been a powerhouse in the Bantam category for the last number of years. Now, these athletes have moved into a strong position within the National Development and National Junior Teams for USA Canoe Kayak. In 2007, Gig Harbor placed five athletes on the Junior World Team USA roster.

Alan is a Director with the Coaches Association and is the Chair of the Coaches Association National Championships Review Committee. Congratulations Alan on your selection as the USA Canoe Kayak Coaches Association, 2007 Coach of the Year.
